Seeking in Vain?
Isaiah 45:19
I have not spoken in secret, from somewhere in a land of darkness; I have not said to Jacob's descendants, 'Seek me in vain.’ I, the LORD, speak the truth; I declare what is right.
I used to think that God and His Word were some great mystery that had to be de-coded. Only the greatest of theologians could really understand what it was that God was saying. You had to have the secret "de-coder ring" to get at the truth, to truly understand God’s Word. I wonder, have any of you ever felt that way? Do you sometimes think that the Word is not something that you could ever just read, and understand, even possibly enjoy, and desire it? If so, you’re not alone.
Here’s the good news, each and every one of us can understand God and His Word. When we truly seek Him, He will meet us where we are, and give us exactly what we need. True, the Bible can be overwhelming, especially when we’re first getting started (or even to those are most seasoned). But when we open it up, and seek Him, God is so clear in His speaking to us - He is accessible to each and every one of us, and His Word can be read and understood by even the least of us. Isn’t that exciting? If you wonder where to begin, try a smaller book in the New Testament, like Titus or First or Second Timothy, or begin with one of the gospels, like John. And rest assured that wherever you begin, whatever you read, God will bless your time and effort.
So, if you have been afraid to crack open your Bible for fear that you won’t understand it, and you’ll just walk away confused and frustrated, fear not! God will meet you there, and His Spirit will reveal His most precious truths to you. We do not seek Him in vain. He is right there, for each and every one of us, waiting for us to come to Him, so that He can show us all that He is and all that He has for us! Go to Him today. Open His Word and let Him pour His all into you. You won’t be sorry.
